Hindustan Vitals

In Nanniyodu village in Thiruvananthapuram district, life was quiet, green, and full of simple joys. Among the winding paths and small homes, three boys, Anoop, Anooj, and Ajinsha; spent their childhood surrounded by fields, trees, and the warmth of family. In their homes, food was much more than something to eat. It was made with care, shared with love, and prepared using ingredients passed down through generations.

Their understanding of nourishment came naturally through the warmth of clay pots, the aroma of steamed millets, and the gentle hands of mothers and grandmothers who knew how to heal with ingredients found close to home. Their bond wasn’t just forged in schoolyards or on playgrounds, but around firewood stoves and kitchen conversations. They watched their elders cook with instinct, gathering leaves from the backyard, drying roots in the sun, and stirring pots not just with hands, but with care and purpose. From early mornings with amla-infused water to evenings sipping moringa decoctions, their lives were touched deeply by the forgotten richness of traditional Indian superfoods.

But as they grew, so did the world around them.

Local grocery stores that once stocked native millets and cold-pressed oils began replacing shelves with glossy packages; foods that were preserved longer but lived shorter in the body. Artificial flavours became louder than real taste. Labels became harder to read. Natural nutrition in India slowly gave way to convenience, and with that, something essential began to fade. The sacredness of food, the respect for ingredients, and the link between soil and soul all started to disappear.

What they witnessed wasn’t just a change in diet;

it was a loss of identity.

This quiet pain stayed with them. And it became a purpose. A silent oath to one day bring back food that belongs to our roots. Food that could nourish deeply, without chemicals. Food that would carry the wisdom of our elders, but speak the language of today. Food that honored the spirit of clean label food in India; honest, wholesome, and rooted in trust.

This was how their journey began;

guided by a promise rather than a business plan. The Seed of an Idea

Anoop Nath R, an engineer and successful entrepreneur, had already built ventures in healthcare, engineering, and clean energy. But the question that lingered in his heart was deeply personal: Why don’t we have access to food that is pure, honest, and rooted in our land? As the Chief Executive Officer, he began to map out what a food company would look like if it followed the same principles he lived by transparency, sustainability, and impact. With his sharp sense of business process automation and operational control, Hindustan Vitals was born on paper, structured as a brand that could redefine clean label food in India.

But Anoop knew one thing;

this couldn’t just be another company. It had to be a movement. And movements need science.

That’s when he called his long-time friend Anooj S L, a brilliant researcher with deep roots in ethnobotany and biodiversity conservation. As a man who had walked the forests studying the medicinal value of plants, Anooj brought the irreplaceable wisdom of Indian ecosystems. He had already published research, led academic institutions, and co-founded CBCRD, an NGO dedicated to rural development and biodiversity. As Chief Operating Officer, he took charge of translating field knowledge into practical, usable food formulas. It was his scientific discipline that shaped the foundation for every formulation. He ensured that each ingredient was time-tested, sustainable, and supported by evidence, bringing the heart of natural nutrition in India into the lab.

The third piece of the puzzle was Ajinsha J S, a gentle yet relentless scientist, who had spent over a decade at KSCSTE-JNTBGRI cataloguing India’s botanical wealth. As a taxonomist and Chief Scientific Officer, he made sure every product was grounded in integrity from identifying the right species to analyzing its nutritional potential. His passion was preserving the purity of ingredients, without compromising their essence. It was Ajinsha who ensured that the brand’s promise; to deliver traditional food brand India values through modern food innovation—was kept at every stage of development.

The Birth of Herba Greens Nutrimix

Together, they created Herba Greens Nutrimix; a plant-based health mix designed for everyday use, yet rich in heritage. With ragi for calcium, flax for fiber, amla for immunity, and beetroot for vitality, this mix wasn’t invented but it was revived.

It became their first offering to the world. A bowl of nourishment that mothers could trust. A glass of comfort that elders could enjoy. A drink of energy that working professionals could rely on.

Every spoonful of Herba Greens Nutrimix carries their story; of forests explored, formulas perfected, and food made sacred again.

What’s Next

But the journey doesn’t stop here.

Fueled by growing trust and demand, the team at Hindustan Vitals is currently working on more than five new products in the R&D pipeline. These include specialized blends for immunity, child nutrition, elderly care, women’s health, and meal replacements; all rooted in traditional Indian superfoods, supported by clean label food India principles, and free from chemicals or shortcuts.

It is a return to honesty in food, a tribute to the recipes that once healed, and a step forward in the health of our people and planet.

Because for Anoop, Anooj, and Ajinsha; friends, scientists, and founders; food was never just about taste.

It was always about trust.
